Bukhara

The Kalon mosque was built in 1500 and received Muslim pilgrims of all Asia and the Middle East.

Before, much before, Bukhara was part of the Persian empire. Alexander the Great conquered it, then the Arabs, followed by Ghengis Khan. The city its more than 2500 years old.
